My Top 9: Weaning Essentials + Giveaway

After breastfeeding baby girl exclusively for 6 months, I initially had very little to worry about in terms of 'things' when it came to her feeding. When baby girl was hungry I would whip my boob out and feed her. As simple as that.

Things changed overnight on her 6 month birthday when we decided it was time to start her on solids. I was overwhelmed by the product choices available to me and I didn't know what I needed or where to start (similar to my dilemmas on what to use on her sensitive skin and for teething). Over the last 2 months and a lot of trial and error, I'm all stocked up with everything we need.

I must admit I have a accumulated a small cupboard full of plastics and weaning products but I only actually use about 25% of them, so in keeping with this weeks weaning theme I thought I would do a blog post with my top picks and hopefully point you in the right direction and save you some wastage.

Tommee Tippee First Cup & Beaker
We have a selection of these that we use throughout the day and we don't use bottles. We put water in the blue cup with handles and formula in the taller pink beaker. The beaker holds 200mls of liquid which is the perfect amount of milk we give her each feed. I've only just managed to get her onto formula after trying for 2 months. She refused bottles and other sippy cups. This is the only one my princess has decided she likes to drink from. She now guzzles her milk from this beaker and there is never any spills. I must admit it was very stressful trying to introduce formula when she would point blank refuse it but after a lot of perseverance and discovering this beaker we are finally there.

Coverall Bib
Eating for a baby is messy business, so much so that I used to have to change her clothes after meal times even when she was wearing a bib. Until I discovered coveralls! This type of bib covers baby girl's entire front so even though the bibs themselves get messy, her clothes are well protected.

Tommee Tippee Insulated Bottle & Food Bag
This bag is great when we are lunching away from home. It means that I can prepare and heat her food at home then keep it in this bag so I don't have to worry about warming her food once we are out and on the go.

Beaba Multi-Portion Silicone Freezing Tray
These trays are my go to when I'm cooking and freezing purees. I love them because the portion sizes are perfect for meal times. Because they are silicone they are super easy to pop out the frozen portions when ready.

Sandwich Bags
Once my puree portions have frozen I pop them out and put them in sandwich bags to keep in the freezer. This way I am able to have the trays rotating and do lots of batch cooking. Most importantly I am able to easily organise them in the freezer, know exactly what the portions are and when I made them.
Tommee Tippee Feeding Bowls
I use these bowls all the time at home. They are triangular shaped which makes it easy to scoop the food. It's great to put finger food in for baby to take themselves and they are dishwasher and microwave safe.

Tommee Tippee Food Pots
These are so handy. I use these for serving meals on the go and also to keep snacks in like blueberries, organix carrot sticks & cucumber fingers. These pots are dishwasher, microwave and freezer safe.

Tommee Tippee Soft Tip Spoon
We've got a large collection of spoons and these are the one baby girl loves. She can get quite fussy when I use other spoons. I think she loves that these are a soft tip and not too hard on her gums. The handles of these spoons are nice and long which I find is really convenient. The one negative I would say is because of the soft tip, any harsh colours like red from tomatoes seem to seep in and stain so I make sure I wash the spoon straight after feeding to try and avoid this.

Tommee Tippee Pop Up Pots
Like the food pots, these are so handy and are used in constant rotation. They are freezable and have a pop out base so it makes to push out the contents once frozen. These are a good size and work well with baby girl's growing appetite. They are also microwave and dishwasher safe.

Breville Hand Blender
I use this baby to make all my purees. It comes in a variety of cute colours and has a normal and turbo speed. It purees the food really well. I was able to puree a roast lamb meal a couple of weeks ago and the consistency was great. It also comes with a beaker which makes the process of pureeing smaller amounts of food a lot easier.

These are all items that I use every day and I would be lost without any of them.

As you can see from my list, I am a big fan of Tommee Tippee. This brand just seem to get what mums and babies need. To show my appreciation to you guys I have decided to run a giveaway including some of my Tommee Tippee faves. Here's what it includes:

  4. The plastic coverall bibs are essential when starting out!! In the early days we ate every meal outside to try & minimise the mess :) (I'm in Australia, not mad;))

    1. Awww I'm from Australia originally. One thing I really miss is meals outside. That's a great idea as I'm constantly having to mop up her trail of destruction after feeding. I'm patiently waiting for it to get a bit warmer so we can do the same x

  5. Tommee Tippee is such a great brand, I became a godmother not too long ago so I've been buying a lot of baby stuff lately. She's only 2 months old as of now, but I know the time will go by so fast! These would be great as a gift :) I really like the silicone freezing trays!
