Losing Baby Weight Challenge: Week #1

I just completed the first week of my official losing my baby weight public challenge. Overall it was a great week.

Here's a break down:

Diet
On Monday I started a two week tea detox with Bootea. You need to drink a tea first thing in the morning every day for 14 days and one in the evening before bed every second day. They are green tea based and from what I understand the morning tea is uplifting and gives you energy for the day, and the evening tea cleanses your system. I'm also trying the Bootea oats for breakfast. They are delicious! The best instant oats I've ever had.
My food aim was to count calories and consume 1200 Monday to Friday with a slightly more relaxed weekend as I don't believe in completely depriving myself. I stuck to my calorie count and felt great about it. For breakfast I had my oats. For lunches I had salads. Some days I needed a bit more substance so would throw in a few quorn nuggets or hot dogs as these are low in calories when eaten in a small amount (I'm a vegetarian). Dinners last week included courgetti with pesto and tuna, vegetable frittata, crepes stuffed with quorn mince (I made some with pork mice for J and baby girl) and veggie sausages with cauliflower mash. I had two 'relaxed' days over the weekend where I was mindful of what I ate but not counting calories but I wish I had kept that to one.

Exercise
Right now, I really find it difficult to exercise. I am a work at home mum and have baby girl with me all the time. OK, it's really bad that I've started off this section with an excuse!
Over time, I hope to find a way to incorporate more exercise. For now I am working on Operation 10k. My aim is to have as many days as possible where I am hitting 10,000 steps. I wear my trusty fitbit all the time to record this. Last week I hit 10k on Monday and Wednesday. It's actually harder than you would expect to achieve this. 2 days is a good start but definitely something for me to work on getting better at.

The Results

The Aussie in me will always weigh myself in kilograms but I will convert my results to pounds too.
Overall I'm really happy with these results. A good loss for week 1. Still a way to go in my quest to shed 4 stone but if I keep going this way I'll be able to give it a good go to complete my goals by the time we go to Australia in December.

  1. That's a great loss! Well done you! I struggle with exercise too and I have no excuse for not doing it!

    1. Thank you! Exercise is just one of those things isn't it? I find that if you get in some kind of exercise routine its much easier to stick to but once you fall off the bandwagon it's super hard to get back on x

  2. Well done on your weight loss. I find two half hour walks a day a good way to lose weight and it is achieveable too

    1. Thank you! Yes, the walking had definitely been helping. My hubby has the car during the day too so we walk wherever we go throughout the day so it helps with getting the steps up x

  3. I understand how hard it is to exercise when you have a small baby! But you are doing so well, congrats on the first week, you'll be exactly where you want to be in no time!
