To My Baby Girl At 18 Months Old: Here's Some Things I Wish You'll Never Change

We had a big milestone on the 21st of February. You, my baby girl, turned a whole 18 months old. That's 548 days since I gave birth to you, 544 days since we brought you home and approximately 850 days since we knew you existed.

I feel absolutely honoured to be your mummy. You sure are something special. To see you grow and develop over the last 18 months has been truly amazing and I look at the little person you are today who is not my little baby anymore, with nothing but pride. You've developed such character and personality and if this is any indiction of the adult you will be, well, watch out world!

There's so many things I love about who you are and here's some particular ones I wish you'll never change:

Your Caring Nature
The way you care melts my heart. You are supper affectionate and one of your favourite words is 'tuddles'. You always want cuddles and your Daddy and I can't get enough of them. You have a gang of friends with you at home (your teddies) and you're always making sure they're OK. Sometimes you think they're sad and you let out a 'awwwwwww' in empathy and make sure to give them a hug. You make sure all your teddies are well fed with your yummy cooking, you make sure they have enough water and you even push them around in your little shopping cart so they're entertained. You are going to make the best big sister one day.

You're Pretty
When you see yourself in the mirror, you give off a huge smile and say 'pretty'. And you are! You are the prettiest little girl I have ever seen -  with your big wide eyes and smile, your cute little button nose, your gorgeously wild baby afro. You are pretty. You are beautiful. Don't ever forget that, and I hope you will always look at yourself in the mirror with such confidence and know how gorgeous you are.

Never Stop Dancing
You love to dance. Anytime you hear a song you start busting out the dance moves no matter what's happening. You dance and the joy in your face is so infectious that I have to dance with you. We have some fun dance parties together. Always dance baby girl, and remember 'Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain'.

Go After What You Want
You are one strong and determined little girl. You know what you want and you stop at nothing to try and get it. It can be a little challenging right now as you are learning more about the world and your emotions but as you grow up I will teach you how to channel this in the right way. I will always encourage you to know what you want and go after it. This determination and strong will will take you places in life and I already know, you are going to what ever place you want to get to!

Love Your Mummy And Daddy
The way you love me and your daddy and the way we love you is unconditional, unbreakable, pure love. You're alway's telling us you love us, and we are you. When you cry for us, and one of us scoops you up and you instantly relax I know the power of the love we share. When Daddy is at work all you talk about all day is 'Daddy' until the minute he gets home. The excitement that exudes you when one of us has been out and walks through the door is on a scale that is off the charts. Me and your daddy already loved each other so much but you have taken the love in this house to a place I never knew existed. Please always love us with this intensity, and I promise we will too.

I love you my baby, around the world and back again and then some more and more again.

Your mummy xoxo

  2. How lovely, I remember when Little Button turned 18 months. Time fly's past so quickly, you blink and they are almost in school. I love how you have treasured each moment. #MarvMondays Annette - http://3littlebuttons.com
