Lights, Camera... Hello YouTube!

When I first started this blog I swore myself to anonymity. No sharing my name, no selfies and 100% never any videos. I don't even know why I was so adamant. I guess I felt a bit daunted sharing so much of myself online that I wanted to protect myself by holding a little back.

Then over time I got more relaxed and I wanted to share more. I even wrote a coming out post and that was a bit of a turning point for me. I felt that after that I could completely express myself through my blog and I was able to start making genuine connections by putting myself out there some more.

This is why starting my very first YouTube channel two weeks ago was a really big step for me. My sister in law has been adamant for a really long time that I should start doing videos and she even bet money that I would even though I was dead against it. However over time as my blog was progressing I just felt like venturing into YouTube was the next step for me so I bit the bullet and created a channel. Safe to say sissy has come to me to collect her money haha.

I created 3 cooking videos to coincide with the recipes posted on the blog so you may have seen some of the things I've been uploading. I love making these kind of videos and I'll continue to do so. The channel is going to be family food focussed. After the 3 videos of my hands I couldn't help but feel I needed to add some personality to my channel so I decided to go ahead and film my little video to introduce myself and explain what the channel is all about. Here it is:

I didn't expect it to be so daunting to talk into a camera, but it was hard to get out what I wanted to say sometimes. Talking into a camera is just not a natural thing. But this is me, and as I said on the clip I'm excited to share more of myself through video so even though I was a little nervous this time, I'm sure I'll get used to the camera soon and there's way more to come.

It was actually so funny to edit with my many takes that I made a little blooper reel. If I'm feeling brave I may even upload that to my Facebook page for you all to have a laugh at.

My blog is definitely still my first love and there's lots on the cards over here but it's cool that I have a little extension of it and the ability to share even more with you. Because as time goes on I just want to share more and more. And maybe it's because I'm getting a lot more comfortable here in my online space.

Let me know what you think of my little video and if you like what you see please do subscribe to my channel. That way you can easily see whenever I have uploaded and I have some exciting videos to come - including a kitchen tour to coincide with my next peek into my home series!
