I do regular fashion posts on what my baby girl wears and I seriously love fashion. I once lived by Carrie Bradshaw's motto of - ' I like to keep my money where I can see it, hanging in my closet'. Sure, it got me into a lot of credit card debt but I was happy. Clothes make me happy!
Since I had baby girl I lost my mojo in a big way. My pre-pregnancy clothes just weren't sitting the way they used to. I had to consider outfits that would be practical for breastfeeding and quite frankly, I opted for comfort as a number one priority. I'm 10 months postpartum and I've decided I need to get out of my slump and there's nothing like a bit of holiday fashion to help me on my way. So I hit the shops and brought some affordable pieces for my trip and took some snaps of what I wore. My original plan was to shoot all of my outfits but sometimes I just forgot, so here's a selection of shots of some of my holiday outfits.
Holiday style: Long and flowy to keep me cool and cover my lumps and bumps. I'm loving basics but with a little something extra like colour or a unique piece to make the outfit pop.
I wore this ensemble to our anniversary dinner, I really love these trousers.
I love these maxi's so much I got two, one in black and one in khaki. I took up the seam on the black one so its more of a midi.
The urban outfiters singlet is a purchase from years back and was perfect to throw over this plain dress to make it more interesting and pinch in my waist.
I just love The End boutique, they are affordable and stock all the latest celebrity trends. This dress has high splits at each side.
This photo doesn't do the top any justice. The bottom of it has hot pink and gold beading that you can only just see and a similar woven pattern on the sleeves which are cut off.
As you can see my Office shoes were well used on my holiday, along with my havianas for day time. I also brought a pair of gold sandals with me bit I didn't wear them very much.
I know that none of these outfits are far from cutting edge fashion but I feel like it's such a big difference from my normal mummy uniform and I felt great wearing them. Now it's time for me to lose some more pounds and keep updating my wardrobe and my mojo. Coming out go my style slump has helped me on my way to feeling human again. Having a baby really knocks it out of you!
For all you mums out there, did you have a fashion crisis post baby? If yes, how did you get your mojo back?

Headscarf - Local Market | River Island kimono | Dorothy Perkins high waisted skinnies
This outfit was my plane attire. Comfort with some flair and a light weight layer that kept me warm on a chilly morning but also came off when we landed in 30 degree weather. Scarves on my head are a regular accessory for me. They bring life to your outfit and mean that you can cover up a bad hair day. The scarf and kimono were purchases from a few years back and I picked up the skinnies in the current sale. These babies are amazingly comfortable.
H&M trousers and vest | John Lewis necklace | Office Sandals | MAV lips - Viva Glam I

Argh these outfits are giving me life! I especially love your travel look. I'm always trying to pull off that, relaxed but chic, jet set, plane to the beach bar look. I had a bit of a uniform when I was breastfeeding. I wanted stuff to hand that was easy to wear, suited my new shape and most of all didn't need ironing :)
ReplyDeleteThank you hun! Kimonos I tell ya. That is the secret to that look. Yep my 'breastfeeding uniform' seems to have extended long past actually breastfeeding haha x

I love layering tops over maxis. You can get so many more looks out of one dress and I like to accentuate my waist. I like the lace top too. I'm a big fan of Urban Outfitters. x
