A Little Chitty Chat Post

Hi guys!

I thought I would take a step back today and just catch you up with what's going on with me.

If you're a regular reader, just by my last few posts, you will know what I've been baking for my toddler, what I got my husband for Valentine's day, what grocery's I brought for the family last week and if you check in tomorrow you will get a scoop on all the finer details in my bedroom. But I realised today it's been awhile since I've just taken a moment to sit back and really write to you, share some of my thoughts and an update about what's on the cards for me.

We're just getting back into the swing of things after our long Christmas holiday to Australia and Singapore. Baby Girl started back at nursery in February and is going one and a half days a week. She's taken to it like a fish to water, just as she did the first time. She loves her little friends and the nursery workers in her baby room. She's such a social butterfly and that is her time in the week for her to just go and do her thing. She makes me very proud.

Her being at nursery means that I get lots of thinking and planning time to focus on Little Bump Shop. Having my own little business is so rewarding and allows me to use my work brain and at the same time, be a stay at home mum. Right now, every single penny I make goes back into the business. As with most start ups - it takes time, investment and drive to really build a business. I'm putting in all my efforts. I'm really proud of where I've got to so far. I'm bursting with excitement as to where it's going. I'm talking - building a network of engaged customers, more ranges, pop up shops, bringing on board some brand advocates.... There's big plans and I'm excited!
Another thing that I'm quite proud of is the way that I'm growing this little blog. When I started, I intended to use this as an outlet to write and get my creative juices flowing. Where I have taken it, I could have never imagined. Along with giving me a forum to write, I have learnt so much about being an online influencer, the technical bits that go along with it, photography - which is something that I never thought I'd be good at, digital design and most importantly I've meet so many wonderful online blog buddies. Even though I don't know them in real life (yet), I have developed a real connections with some. I'm planning on attending a mummy blogging conference in June called BritMums and although I'm extremely nervous about it, I'm excited at being able to meet some of my virtual friends in real life.

You may have also noticed that I've been collaborating with some brands on my blog recently which is super exciting. I'm really enjoying doing reviews and PR collaborations. It's really important to me to keep this blog as authentic as the day that I started it and only write about things that genuinely fit with my life. I've actually been saying no to more opportunities that have come my way than I've said yes to because of that reason. I hope that you'll agree that my content is still true to me and that you've been enjoying what I've been putting out there.

My blog, like my life is a bit of a mish mash of all the things I love and in a very short summary of food, family and fashion. On any one day I could be posting about recipes, baby fashion, home decor, product reviews, shopping hauls, travel, restaurant reviews, weight loss, general mummy business and more. I sometimes wonder if the topics I cover are too wide but then again - it's simply about what's going on in my life. Most of my blog posts are reactive and written then and there rather than meticulously planned and scheduled. If you have any thoughts on my content, please let me know. If there's anything you would like to see more or less of I'd love to hear from you.

In other news, I've only gone and set myself up a YouTube channel. I've uploaded my first video, which is of me making peanut butter and banana cups. It's very lonely over there. At the time of writing this I have 1 subscriber (haha). Please head over and check it out. I would be ever so grateful if you could subscribe. I don't know where I'm going to take YouTube but I really enjoyed shooting and editing my first video. Watch this space!  You can find me by searching EatLoveLive London on YouTube or clicking the link at the start of this paragraph.

Finally, we are looking forward to our next family holiday. Our next destination is Lagos, Nigeria. I am so excited about this trip for so many reasons. Firstly, my husband is British born and bred but his parents are Nigerian and there's a very strong influence across the family. Secondly, getting in to my background will be complex but the short story is -my dad was actually adopted. His birth father is Nigerian and his birth mother English and he never knew either. Growing up I had zero Nigerian influences so wasn't able to relate, however the more I learn about Nigerian people and culture now, the more I make sense about certain aspects of my character. Sometimes character traits and the way you feel are not just down to nurture. They're just part of you, in your DNA. I can't wait to land in Lagos and see how it feels. I wonder if I will feel like I've come home, just like I did when I first landed in England.

So that's what's going on with me at the moment. I can't believe it's Feb already. I can't just tell already this year is going to fly by before we know it.

Thank you to all of you who read my blog. I started doing this for me and I still do so. But the more that you guys read, the more I get excited about sharing bits of my life with you all. I am very grateful that you keep coming back and reading so thank you :)

I hope it's been a good start to the year for you all and please feel free to contact me any time through this blog, on email or through any of my social media channels.
