A Day With: Quite Frankly She Said

A Day With: Is a fun series I am running on the blog. I love 'day in the life' style mummy posts. They are fun to read and interesting to see the way different mums manage their days. I think all mummies are superheroes  We all have our own challenges with managing our lives and running our households, but we get through it and that should be celebrated.

Today's guest is Sian from Quite Frankly She Said and I'm so so excited she's taking part in this series. Sian has two boys - aged 1 and 3. Together with her fiancé they all live in beautiful Hertfordshire, UK. I absolutely love her blog  and the thoughts she shares on being a mummy. Visiting this blog always leaves me feeling happy and positive. Oh and if you are not familiar with her Instagram, you should be (link below). Her photo's are beautiful.

Having babies so close together in age makes me able to relate with Sian's day so much. We are both dealing with lack of sleep, managing nap times, fussy eating and sticking to schedules (which she seems to be a lot better at than me). What's different about me and her is that she manages this with two little munchkins. Supermum!

07.00: The boys wake up and Ian takes them downstairs, leaving me to sleep until he leaves for work at 8. I need it – Baby J still wakes at least once in the night!

08.00: “Wake up Mummy, it morning, me want breakfast!” The boys clamber over me. Baby J picks up my phone and passes it to me. We go downstairs and I get breakfast ready. Multigrain hoops for them, bran flakes for me, and we share a round of toast. Hot chocolate for N, coffee for me and water for J. The boys watch Peppa Pig and I catch up on social media and emails.

08.30: I get the boys dressed, put on a load of laundry then go for a shower.

09.00: Showered and dressed, I make a start on the housework. I walk through the house picking up the clothes that Ian and my stepson have left everywhere. I wash up last night’s dishes and clean the kitchen while the boys reek havoc in the living room. I pick up all the toys and run the Dyson round. Fold and put away the laundry I dried yesterday and make all the beds. I think about cleaning the bathroom then decide I can’t be bothered.

10.00: Snacktime for the boys. Little N has a Yoyo, J has a banana. Then we have a go on Little N’s new game: Despicable Me Operation. Like the Operation game but with Minions. He’s been asking for it for weeks and used his pocket money to buy it. It turns out he hates it – he doesn’t like the buzzing!

10.45: J wants a feed. I put on Bing Bunny for Little N while J nurses, and check my emails with my free hand. The laundry has finished so I hang it up to dry and put on another load. There are six of us including my stepchildren, plus J’s cloth nappies, so I have an endless stream of laundry!

11.30: The boys have their lunch early so that we have enough time to get Little N to preschool. They have cheese and cucumber sandwiches (N leaves the cucumber) and some chopped plum, which N doesn’t eat, followed by a yogurt each.

12.00: I’ve got a bit of an OCD about leaving the house at exact times, so we start getting ready to leave at exactly midday. I have to chase the boys around coaxing them into putting their shoes at coat on. It takes us until 12.15 before we can actually leave the house!

12.30: Baby J falls asleep on the way home from dropping Little N at preschool so I carry him into the house and put him down in his cot. I have my lunch and a cup of tea and catch up on Eastenders.

13.00: I know that I have until about 14.00 before J wakes up so I boot up my laptop and to do some blogging and emails.

14.15: J wakes up; he is always really sensitive after his nap so we sit on the sofa and I stroke his hair until he feels happier. Then it’s time to tidy up the kitchen after lunch, run the Dyson round again and get ready to collect Little N from preschool.

15.00: After preschool we head to town for a while. We have library books to return and I treat the boys to a chocolate babyccino each from Costa. They love it, it comes with a big marshmallow.

16.00: Back home we go into the garden for a run around. It’s chilly but not too bad. The boys decide to play with the water table which is absolutely freezing! And J is fascinated by the little windmills. It’s too cold to stay out for long, so we come back in and Little N falls asleep on the sofa.

17.30: The boys have their dinner. It’s pasta with spinach and mushrooms. I have dinner with them to encourage them to eat, and Ian will have his later when he’s home from work. Little N refuses to eat it but J gets stuck right in. I have no idea how N is so big considering he eats like a sparrow!

18.00: Bath time! The boys share a bath, they love bath time except for having their hair washed. I put bubble bath in and they have lots of toys. They spend a lot of time playing and Ian gets home while they’re still playing.

19.30: And it’s bed time! Ian takes Little N to bed while I take J. J has a feed at bedtime and usually falls asleep while he’s nursing, but sometimes it can take up to an hour to get him settled. And tonight it’s one of those nights!

20.20: With the boys now fast asleep, Ian and I chill out on the sofa, watching TV and catching up on our day.

22.00: It’s time for me to head to bed. J will no doubt wake up around midnight and need a cuddle, and again at some point between 3am-6am. Ian stays downstairs watching TV and heads to bed later. At what time, I don’t know, as I’m already out for the count!

    1. Yes, that's the beauty. We've all got the task of keeping our children alive, fed, entertained and well rested but we all have our own different circumstances and challenges. That's why I love hosting this series :) x

    1. It seems to be such a common thing. It's nice to have quiet snuggle time, even if it is just for 5 minutes of the day x
