Here's another healthy(ish) snack recipe that we love in my house. This recipe is particularly fabulous for me in three scenarios:
- A snack on the go for my toddler
- An addition to the lunchtime menu
- A quick and yummy snack to bust out if you have visitors and much healthier alternative to crisps.
There are so many variations of pita crisps and today I'm sharing my favourite flavour with you - parmesan.
Parmesan Pita Crisps
Prep time: 4 minutes
Cook time: 12 minutes
Ingredients
- 4 pitas
- 120 grams butter
- 30 grams grated parmesan cheese
- optional pepper to taste
- Preheat oven to 190ºC and prepare two large baking trays.
- Cut pitas in half and roughly cut into chip shapes.
- Melt butter and combine parmesan (as well as pepper if you like) into a large bowl.
- Mix pita shapes in the bowl and make sure they are lightly coated with the butter mixture. If you have left over butter mixture, don't feel like you have to use it all if you don't want the crisps to be too greasy.
- Line the pita crisps in a single layer on the baking trays and put in the oven.
- Bake for 12 minutes, flipping sides after 6 minutes. Keep your eye on them to make sure they don't overcook.
- Allow to cool and serve - best served with your favourite dip.
And there you go, another super easy recipe. I decided to press the record button as I was baking these so have put up a video of me making them on YouTube if you fancy having a look. It's only the second video I've ever made and I still have some work to do on getting the lighting right but I'm having so much fun making them.
Also, if you like the look of the dip featured in these pictures be sure to come back next week and I'll have a recipe for it. It's a yummy cheesy carrot dip.
What snacks do you give your little ones? My family meal choices and baking are often inspired by my online friends. I'd love some more ideas.
Kat x
