Review & Giveaway (Closed): Slissie (Electronic Slimming Aid)

If you've read my previous posts about weight loss you will know that I am on a mission to get back into pre baby shape, and although I've made some progress I've still got a way to go (not to mention my Christmas holiday damage!). I've also set some goals for myself this year that are less around the concept of a diet and more around healthy living and loving my body. One of those particular goals is to cut back on the sugar. I know I need to work on my snacking too. This week, to help start my battle against snacking and sugar I have been using this baby. My brand new Slissie!

When Slim Lizzie got in touch and asked if I would like to review their Slissie, an electronic slimming aid I was firstly intrigued but also a little unsure.

My main questions were:
1. Is it safe?
2. How does it work?

I did some research. Slissie was developed by Liz. A fellow mummy who was struggling to lose her baby weight. By using her Slissie she was able to lose 9 pounds in the first 3 weeks and then a pound a week until she had reached her goal. More importantly she was able to change her eating habits and keep the weight off. The main purpose of Slissie is to cut out bad snacks. The Slissie is a chargeable electronic device that comes in a range of flavours. The liquid used in the device is a combination of natural fruit, herb and vanilla extracts as well as guarana which is known to speed up metabolism. It's quick and easy to use and designed to look like a mascara and fit in with the belongings in your handbag.

I was sold. I couldn't wait to try it!

A Slissie Starter Kit comes with a Slissie, a USB charger and 3 tanks of flavours (mint, fruit and vanilla). In addition you can purchase a chocolate flavour. To use it you simply charge (for about an hour), turn it on by clicking the button 5 times, press button down for 4 seconds to heat the liquid, release and suck. This can be repeated whenever you have a craving throughout the day. Each liquid tank last for approximately 250 sucks and a refill pack is available to purchase on their website.

My Slissie experience
I have been using my Slissie for a week and so far so good. My main goal with using my Slissie is to beat my sugar cravings. While I was being very good in the lead up to Christmas, I was starting to make bad choices with sweet treats and was getting to the point that I would need chocolate every day and would feel bad if I didn't have it. Sugar addict come to mind? So my aim for the week was no sweet treats at all and use my Slissie to help me on my way.

I've taken my Slissie around with me every where I've gone to make sure it was on hand whenever my cravings called. I didn't really need to use it at the beginning of my days but I found around 3pm-ish my cravings began to creep in all the way until dinner and then after dinner until bed time. Whenever I would have a craving I would pull out my Slissie and have a suck. Most days I used it about 4 times. I tried all the flavours. They are subtle but enough to leave a sweet taste in your mouth and hero towards satisfying your craving.

Another way it helped was diverting my focus. When I was having a craving, rather than reach for  something sweet, I reached for my Slissie and by the time that I had focused my attention on using it, my mind was off focusing on the next thing and diverted away from my sweet cravings. This is about retraining your mind. I do have a confession! Day 3 and 4 were particularly difficult days for me and I gave in to my sweet cravings. But I was proud that by day 5, I was back on it and I finished off my week with fighting those sweet treats. I find the less I have sugar, the less I crave it and now that I'm one week on I'm craving less and feeling better.

The Verdict
Being sweet treat free 5 out of 7 days is a thumbs up for me. 1 week in, and the Slissie is really working for me the way that it promises. I'm battling my cravings, creating healthier habits and making better choices. My little device is helping me on my way.
This is not going to be a miracle solution to battling chocolate cravings alone or a miracle appetite suppressant. The Slissie has helped me with 50% of my battle to cut out bad snacks from my diet but the other 50% has been my own mind set. You have to really want it for it to work. In saying that, the Slissie has also helped with retraining my mind.

I'm super excited to keep using my Slissie and keep going. They say it takes 21 days to break a habit so I'm keen to see how the next couple of weeks go. Wish me luck!
