I am writing this post from my living room. We are home after our month long holiday to Singapore and Australia. We had such an amazing time as a family and although I am sad that it's over, we have come home at a good time. It's a new year, a fresh page and lot's of exciting things to get stuck in to.
I did think I would blog a lot more than I did whilst on holiday. I thought that being away for a month and having a line of family and friends on hand ready to look after Baby Girl that I would have more spare time on my hands. Turns out that as it always does, time went by very quickly and I wanted to use every spare minute I had to make the most of our holiday. I have loads of material so I'm sure I will make up for it now that I'm back.
The New Years countdown this year was a pretty special one and as I celebrated amongst my immediate family in my Melbourne home town, I had many things to be proud of for 2015 and equally as many things to be excited about for 2016.
It's been quite a few years since I stopped setting New Years resolutions for myself. Personally I felt the expectation to set a resolution at a specific time not set by myself was a recipe for failure. I am determined and I am normally pretty determined to succeed at anything I put my mind to when I am ready to get stuck into it but not when it's forced.
Instead, for the last few years I have taken the time to reflect on the year that's just past and send positive vibes to the universe about my bigger picture plans, hopes and dreams for the next. The smaller detail I'll leave in my mind but here's a rough idea of what a great 2016 is going to look like for me.
Eat
Work on being an even better cook for my family, making sure we are eating healthy, wholesome and home cooked meals most of the time (and embracing the occasional treat days ;)).
Love
It's all about the family and friends that are family. After all this group of people are the ones that matter most and so is always finding the time to focus on them. That is my priority and I must remember not to forget the bigger picture and what life is really all about, including finding the time for my love - my husband J.
Live
J and I have lots planned for the next 5 years so this year it's really about mapping out those plans and focussing on them all. We need to work out where we need to put immediate actions in for the short term stuff and how we can do what we need to do to make sure things fall in place for the longer term stuff. I see a giant "to do" list being created in the new few weeks.
It's not a coincidence that my goals are defined by my blog name. It is my life mantra and although these three words will mean different things to me throughout various stages of my life they are the things that will always be important. Can't wait to blog about my year and share it with you all!
I hope you are all feeling as positive about 2016 as I am. Did you set yourself any resolutions?
I'll leave you with a photo my older brother took on my mums balcony as the sun was setting for the last time in 2015. When the sun was no longer and the clock struck midnight, we all got to enjoy a wonderful fireworks display over this gorgeous city skyline. It was truly magical!

Love your goals Kat. I really must start doing something similar as I am sure it focuses the mind and helps us go in the right direction when we have choices to make. How lovely to have spent New Year with your family in Australia - a wonderful start to 2016 :) Happy New Year and good luck with your goals x
ReplyDeleteI am a firm believer in sending positive vibes to the universe and believe a lot of my success is due to me doing it. The power of the mind is a wonderful thing. Happy New Year to you too x
