Stokke Tripp Trapp Highchair Review

When baby girl hit 5 months I knew it was time to start thinking about a highchair. She was sitting up by herself really well and J and I hadn't had a decent meal together at home since the night before I went into labour. We had no where to put her when we were eating at our dining table other than our laps. If we tried to put her anywhere but where she felt like she was with us she wasn't happy. Dinner times with my husband consisted of us taking turns to eat while the other would hold baby girl. I'd always dreamed of dinner together as a family but this is not what I'd pictured!

We had also just renovated our entire house before baby girl was born and I was loving every detail of my small and cosy home but was worried about shoving a big plastic high chair in the middle of our living space.

Then I found the Stokke Tripp Trapp and I fell in love. The thing that got me straight away was its design. With the absence of a big plastic tray it's designed to be placed right up at the table so that your baby can really be part of your family meal. It also comes in many different colours so we were able to find one that that suited our decor perfectly. The other great thing is that it is adjustable and adapts as your baby grows. It can even be adjusted for an adult to sit on it.

As soon as I found it, I knew I had to have it so after doing some research and realising there was nothing else like it in the market I quickly placed my order. It's definately one of the more expensive options but I think it's well worth it because I can see baby girl using it for her whole childhood. I ordered it through baby-nest.co.uk as they had the best deal going at the time and 4 days later our beautiful high chair arrived.

J set it up really quickly and easily and our lives changed forever. Even though we were still waiting to start weaning baby girl, we would sit her at the table with us every meal time, give her some toys to play with and for the first time in forever J and I were really able to enjoy a meal together with baby girl at our side. Now that she is actually using it to eat we are still just as pleased with it. It fits in so well with the rest of our furniture. You have to look twice to realise there is a high chair there.  Its pretty lightweight so I'm able carry our trusty Tripp Trapp with me to the kitchen and baby girl will happily sit in it, watching me cook. I love to cook and this is something I had struggled to do and keep her occupied at the same time.

The only thing that made me wary was there are many different accessories to go with it that are really essentials when you're starting out and you have to pay for these additionally. It can also be a bit confusing on exactly what you need. This is what I got :
  • Tripp Trapp in brushed white
  • Baby set in white
  • The  cushion in grey loom
  • We got the Tripp Trapp table top for free as part of a deal. This essentially is a plastic tray that auctions to your table so great for BLW. It protects the table and wipes clean really easily.
We got all of these bits for just over £200. Because she will be using it for years to come I think it's well worth it.

I'm so happy I can now have the freedom to cook decent meals again but most importantly I am loving those precious moments at dinner time with my family.

My Tripp Trapp. My Saviour!

    1. Nice. I can see us investing in a second one when we start thinking about baby number #1 as it's going to last so long with #1 it won't be a hand me down x

    1. My other fave Stokke product is the baby carrier. It took us awhile to get used to but now daddy is an avid baby wearer and we don't often take out the buggy any more x
